PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- Nintendo 64, introduced in late September, accounted for 51 percent of all video game console units sold that month, according to the TRSTS Video Games report, published by The NPD Group, a market researcher.
The report is based on point-of-sale tracking information provided to NPD by a panel of 19 retail chains accounting for 65 percent of industry sales. The report covers the period from Sept. 1 through Oct. 5, 1996.
