NEW YORK -- Nintendo loyalists of all ages crowded the opening of the new Nintendo World Store in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center on May 14, 2005, in a retailtainment extravaganza. The event afforded children and teens alike the chance to play some of the newest games on the market on Nintendo's latest gaming platforms. Teenagers crowded the Nintendo DS stand and there were kiosks and flat-screen panels placed both inside and outdoors to give fans a chance to test their skills--as well as Nintendo merchandise.
The bi-level 10,000-square-foot store features a variety of gift items as well. though this event was focused on building excitement around the brand rather than just sales. Exclusives created a draw during the store opening and will likely continue attracting die-hard garners though the coming months.
