BT Rich Media platform used to show FIFA World Cup qualifiers on the Internet

UK-based telecomms group BT has said that its BT Rich Media platform will be used by European sports marketing group SPORTFIVE to show FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifying matches online.
Under an agreement between SPORTFIVE and BT, international qualifying and friendly games that will not be televised are to be streamed over broadband on the Internet, using BT Rich Media for publishing and distributing the video content.
The action will be offered at http://www.qualifiers2006.com, with live games priced at GBP9.95 for a 250k or 500k stream. Users can also choose to download the game and retain it on their PC for GBP6.95.
