Big Idea Productions and ValuSoft Release Jonah - a VeggieTales Game; PC Game Based on Upcoming Feature Film Ships Today to Retailers Nationwide

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2002
Big Idea Productions, creators of the best-selling direct-to-video VeggieTales(R) children's series, and ValuSoft(R), a division of THQ(R) Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI), have teamed up to release Jonah - a VeggieTales(R) Game. Families across the nation will now be able to enjoy the trademark silliness and wholesome messages of the VeggieTales on their PC.
This interactive PC game is based on the upcoming feature film from Big Idea, Jonah - a VeggieTales Movie(TM), which premieres in theaters on October 4, 2002. In the film, Jonah, as Israel's number one prophet, has a great job delivering God's messages. But when Jonah gets a call to go to Nineveh, he runs away and straight into a whale-full of trouble.
Kids will join Jonah (played by Archibald Asparagus) on a voyage of a lifetime. Players will experience a stormy ride on a pirate ship with The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, an adventure in the belly of a whale and a journey across the desert to the city of Nineveh, where the people are so mean that they slap each other with fishes! As kids play each game, they will unlock the story of Jonah, watch exciting scenes from the movie and begin their next adventure. While having tons of fun, kids will learn that God wants to give everyone a second chance, even if they don't deserve it.
Jonah - a VeggieTales(R) Game incorporates a unique feature called Parental Controls. Parents can now determine how long their kids play by setting the game play timer in the start-up menu. When time's up, the game automatically saves and ends the VeggieTales fun until next time.
"With the release of these interactive games, we're telling our stories in a whole new way," states Phil Vischer, CEO and Chief Creative Officer at Big Idea Productions. "Kids can not only watch their favorite VeggieTales characters, they can interact with them, and learn valuable life lessons while having loads of fun!"
Jonah - a VeggieTales(R) Game, rated "E" for Everyone, is the second VeggieTales interactive game, and will be available at computer software retailers and mass merchants for $19.99 SRP. The third VeggieTales CD-ROM game, Veggie Carnival, will ship October 7, 2002 with a suggested retail price of $9.99. The first game, The Mystery of Veggie Island(TM), is currently available nationwide.
"Parents can actually feel good about giving their kids VeggieTales games this holiday season," says Scott Zerby, Vice President of ValuSoft. "VeggieTales popularity is growing to an all-time high with more than 30 million videos sold and the premiere of their first feature film."
