Showing a tad bit more creativity in custom console coloring than Sony's American division, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced plans to release a new "Aqua" PlayStation 2 console. The shiny light blue PS2 will go on sale in PAL territories in early March.
The Aqua console will go for the same price as a regular black PS2 -- 200 euros on the continent, 140 pounds in England, and the equivalent of about $250 in either case -- with a single controller in the same color as the console. Matching memory cards and vertical stands will go on sale at teh same time.
SCEE president David Reeves said, "We introduced our Silver Prestige Line PlayStation 2 before Christmas. It proved to be so successful that it was a natural extension to include one other colour to complement the range, and this new limited edition Aqua PlayStation 2 seemed just right for Europe in the Spring time."
That makes three total colors in which European gamers can purchase a PS2 this spring (specimens of the Satin Silver variation are still available), compared to a paltry one in North America. We advise SCEA to correct this clear imbalance immediately.
