EA Announces New TimeSplitters 3 DetailsDavid Smith
The third game in the TimeSplitters series will see release early next year for all three consoles, Electronic Arts announced today. The news of a GameCube version runs encouragingly counter to earlier reports that the game wwas in development solely for PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Called TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, the new game will feature an expanded story set between 1914 and 2401, as the hard-bitten space pilot Cortez fights to discover the origins of the TimeSplitters and stop their plot to destroy humanity. As he travels through time, he'll meet up to three different alternate versions of himself, although the game luckily doesn't expend much time trying to work out the paradoxes involved.
The multiplayer portion of the game includes a two-player cooperative mode for the entire campaign, plus four-player split-screen deathmatch on Xbox and GameCube, and 16-player online games on PlayStation 2. All versions of the game will include a detailed new map-maker feature, and the PlayStation 2 version will let players share original deathmatch maps online.
