Industry organisation for global retailing IMRG has revealed that the rate of Internet shopping in the UK has risen 44% from the same time one year ago.
The company goes on to state that UK Internet shoppers spent GBP1.175bn in November 2003, accounting for 7% of all retail sales. Also, it is expected that GBP3.34bn of Christmas presents will be ordered over the Internet this year.
A spokesperson for the company claims that the reason for the rise in Internet shopping comes from the convenience of the medium.
IMRG found that the most visited web sites in November 2003 were eBay UK followed by Amazon UK, eBay, shops UK and Kelkoo UK. The most searched for products were iPod, Playstation 2, DVD players, digital cameras and Freeview.
