Datel Announces USB Memory Key For PS2, Xbox

David Smith

Though devices for transferring console game saves to PCs aren't a very new thing, they generally serve only as an interface -- something to connect a memory card to a computer. Datel today announced a pair of products combining both memory and interface into one. The MAX Drive, available for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, is a USB flash RAM key capable of connecting to both PCs and consoles and copying saved games back and forth.

The PS2 version of the device plugs directly into the console's USB ports, while the Xbox version plugs into the Xbox controller's memory card slot using an included adapter. In either case, the drive contains 16 megabytes of storage space for saved games and other data.

With the included software, players can then copy those saved games to a PC and store them on a hard drive or share them through the Internet. Datel also promises to make saved games with its Action Replay cheat codes available for download to the device.

The PS2 version will see release via Datel's CodeJunkies.com website on April 20, with the Xbox version to follow on April 26. They'll be priced at $29.99 each.
