American Airlines and Mexicana Airlines launch interline electronic ticketing

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

American Airlines and Mexicana Airlines have announced the launch of interline electronic ticketing.

According to the two airlines, travellers are now able to use a single electronic ticket (e-ticket) when their itineraries include travel on American and Mexicana. Passengers with e-tickets are also able to re-book between American Airlines and Mexicana without first having to obtain a paper ticket for transferring.

American Airlines said that it now offers interline e-ticketing with 23 carriers, including Alaska Airlines, America West Airlines, American Trans Air, Aloha Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways. American Airlines reportedly also has interline e-ticketing agreements with all seven Oneworld Alliance partners, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, LanChile and Qantas as well as with KLM and Copa Airlines.
